Origin
The history of the Spinone Italiano is not known by anybody but people say that the breed evolved in Europe several hundred years ago. Over so many years the breed has become popular in European countries but it is still not that popular in United States. The Spinone Italiano is mainly used for retrieving.
General Description
The Spinone Italiano is a medium sized dog about 23 inches in height. They have a stout and well built muscular body. The Spinone Italiano has a round head and a long round shaped muzzle with a big brown nose at the tip. The fur is such on their muzzle that it looks like the beard of an old man. Their face is totally covered by long hanging fur and their eyes are set wide apart and hazel in colour. The Spinone Italiano has long hanging ears and a wide chest touching their shoulders. Their limbs and legs are stocky and muscular. Their tail is lond and slightly curved at the tip. The Spinone Italiano has typical wired coat which is found in colours like off white, orange and white and chestnut.
Character
I must say that the Spinone Italiano is one of the best family dogs. If you want to fulfil the space of a sweet family member then you just need a Spinone Italiano. This breed has no demands from its family except love, kindness and support. They love human companionship very much and always love to be attached with their family. You should not leave them alone otherwise they would become frustrated. The Spinone Italiano is very sweet to kids and also to strangers. They are also very affectionate to other dogs. The truth is that this breed is very sweet to everyone. They are not good as a watch dog and they bark very less. They are never aggressive and love to work always.
Temperament
The Spinone Italiano is very intelligent and sweet by nature. They just know how to love everyone. They love kids, strangers, other dogs as well as small animals. They love to play with other dogs and small animals. Generally we see that breeds are aggressive or ignorant about strangers but this is not the case with this breed. They are a real darling. They love to get attention and affection from their masters and family. They should not be left alone for long time as they would become frustrated in such situations. They are never good as guard dogs. The Spinone Italiano is not at all aggressive and prove to be excellent companion. Highly recommended for all types of owners.
Training
They are very intelligent and obedient so it is easy to train the Spinone Italiano. They are fast at learning things. Sometimes they are a bit stubborn but they should not be treated with harshness. It is expected that fair and consistent training would be the best.
Health
The breed can be affected by some genetic issues like CHD, bloat etc. Their average lifespan is 12-15 years.
