Origin
The Siberian Husky evolved in northern Siberia. They were used as the sledge dogs. In 1909 a huge number of Siberian Huskies were brought to Alaska and were used in a sledge race. They have a great deal of power, capable of bearing hardships and that is the reason they have gained so much popularity in the Arctic region.
General Description
The Siberian Husky is a medium sized dog about 23 inches in height. It has a well built body and they are stout, muscular and have a lot of strength and stamina. Their head is flat and they have a long sharp muzzle with a black nose at the tip. The Siberian Husky has almond shaped hazel eyes set apart. The Siberian Husky’s ears are triangular and stand straight on their head. Their tongue is pink, they have black lips and sharp teeth enough for scissor bite. The Siberian Husky has wide neck which is very much stocky and wide, stocky limbs and legs. They have a level backside and long, thick and fluffy tail which is curled at the tip. They have padded paws and have a thick coat which protects them in cold weather. They are mainly found in red and black and black and grey colours.
Character
Siberian Huskies are very friendly and loyal in nature but they love to be independent. They are an energetic breed and have the capacity and strength of doing works like sledge pulling, carting, racing etc as I told before also. This breed is very much fun loving and dedicated to their families and they are highly recommended for families with old children. They become more and more gentle in nature as they grow aged and they are very much dignified in nature and very good to strangers also. They are perfect for outgoing and that’s the reason Siberian Huskies cannot be used as watch dogs. Except exceptional situations Siberian Huskies are easy to train and at the same time they are very much eager to learn manners. Their tone is almost same as that of the wolves.
Temperament
Siberian Huskies prove to be an excellent, loyal and intelligent breed. They are also very much friendly in nature. They are so much friendly in nature that they are not as good as guard dogs. In spite of being intelligent they sometimes behave in a rigid manner. A watch must be kept on them as they have a good instinct and can be sometimes harmful against small animals. They are great to old children and love to stay with the family. They prove to be great companions. They are not aggressive to anybody. The Siberian Huskies need to be socialized from an early age.
Training
The Siberian Husky is very much intelligent but they are independent in nature. They just not obey all your commands. They do not respond to harsh methods. Training must be done with consistency and fairness. Training and socialization class should be started from their kid age.
Health
Generally they are a healthy breed except some of them may suffer from hip dysplasia, PRA, heart diseases etc. Their average life span is 10-12 years.
