Origin
British Isles was the place where this breed was created in the 1800 century. This breed was created by mixing different breeds like Flat-Coated Retriever, light-coated Tweed Water Spaniels, the Newfoundland, Bloodhound etc. The Golden Retriever has been generally used for hunting but it has also proved to be excellent companions of human beings. They are excellent sniffer dogs. their sniffing power is so great that they have been used for detection jobs also.
General Description
The Golden Retriever is really very good looking. They are a more or less big breed and have a stout muscular body. In some cases they are even bulky. They always have an intelligent and alert expression in their face. They have wide chest which touches their elbows. Their neck is long and muscular and their back side is more or less level but sloaps a bit to its tail. The Golden Retriever has a wide head flat at the top and a broad and long muzzle with a black nose at the tip. The skin of their jaws hang a bit downwards and they have pendant shaped ears hanging by their head. The Golden Retriever has strong muscular limbs and legs and a large furry tail slightly curved at the tip.
Character
The Golden Retriever is very much intelligent and well behaved by nature. They have a very cute personality and they are very much loyal and devoted to their family. The Golden Retriever is one of the most patient dogs. They are very good to children and they can adjust in any circumstance. They have a tendency to please their owners. They are so well behaved that they prove to be great companions of human beings. They love human interaction to a great extent and they very easily mix with the outsiders also. Generally they do not bite any one but they use their voice to the full extent when they smell a threat. This breed loves to stay with the family and they should not be left alone for a long time. As in such situations they can become highly destructive. The Golden Retrievers are very good swimmers.
Temperament
Golden Retrievers are very cute, well behaved and intelligent by nature. They have a charming and confident attitude. They are very cute and always have a tendency to please the family members. This breed is very much devoted to their masters. They love human attention and love to stay with the family. If left alone for a long time they can behave in a destructive manner. They are very good to children and other pets. The Golden Retriever also mix very well with the strangers. They love to bark and they also bark if they smell a threat. Not at all recommended for a micro family as they love to stay amongst people all the times.
Training
Amongst all breeds they are the easiest to train because of their extreme obedience and eagerness to learn.
Health
Just as many other breed they may suffer from hip dysplasia, heart problems etc. They may also be affected by skin allergies and eye problems. Their average life span is 10-12 years.
